Keynote session: “You are the Core”
Managers: Laura McManniman (IAEA, Austria) & Andre Vidal Soares (Penn State, USA)
Within the frame of this IYNC2022 Keynote session, the human element will be put at the heart of the discussion about nuclear – whether it means amplifying personal stories of nuclear professionals or talking about the benefits of nuclear science and technologies from both the micro perspective of individuals and the macro perspective of the global sustainability agenda.
Plenary Session 1: “Communication: activating trust & energizing public engagement”
Manager: Lubomir Mitev (ENEC, United Arab Emirates)
One of the key issues affecting nuclear energy in many countries is a lack of public support. Historically the nuclear industry was very closed, leading to distrust and misunderstanding from those outside of the industry. Today, communication from the industry is much more open and utilises many modern means. This session will examine effectiveness in communication, communication strategies, engagement vs. acceptance and the role that YGNs and nuclear professionals have to play.
Plenary Session 2: “Human Capital: enriching quality of life through cooperation”
Co-Managers: Ting Yi Wang (Taiwan Power Company, China Taipei ) and John Lindberg (WNA, UK)
This session will examine how the resources of training, experience, individual and collective competences are essential for all organizations within the nuclear industry and how national and international cooperation programs can enhance worldwide prosperity.
Plenary Session 3: “Nuclear Innovation: fuelling a sustainable future”
Manager: Elena Pashina (ROSATOM, Russia)
This session will focus on innovations in the field, such as advanced reactor technologies, robotics and artificial intelligence, and how these support the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
